On February 9. and 10. 2026 SyMoCADS team met at the Plankstetten Abbey in Berching for the 2nd Alumni and Visitor Workshop. The first day of the workshop was dedicated to a number of great presentations: Prof. Falko Dressler (TU Berlin)  talked about using molecular communication principles for future tumor detection, Prof. Jens Kirchner (TU Dortmund  and  PA in P5) taught us about some ethical aspects of molecular communication, and Prof. Heinz Köppl TU Darmstadt presented his research regarding energy and information in molecular rection networks. In addition,  Maike Scherer (our associate and alumna of the Institute for Bioprocess Engineering ) and Alexander Wietfeld (TU München ) gave us some very inspiring insides to their doctoral projects. Finally, the last event on the agenda on this day – a poster session with flash talks of or young researchers (P1 -P10) – animated many interesting and lively discussions.

After the intensive scientific program on the first day, we used the second day of the workshop for various meetings, fruitful discussions, learning the history of the abbey church, and strengthening of the team spirit with a nice hike through the idyllic surroundings of the monastery. Overall, we all gained a lot of input and inspiration and returned home with new ideas and plans for the near future. Once again, many thanks to all our guests for joining us for the workshop. It was a great pleasure to have you there.
